CONGRATULATIONS PTA FOUNDERS DAY DISTINGUISHED
SERVICE HONOREE & RHS FOUNDERS DAY HONOREES!
Distinguished Service-Allan Schneck
Congratulations to our very own Allen Schneck who was honored with a District level PTA award, The Distinguished Service Award.
Allan has been an organizer and ardent supporter for many programs districtwide that have an impact at the elementary, middle and high school levels.
At the elementary school level Allan supported the annual raffle/dinner, and initiated the Safe Routes to School program.
At the middle school level Allan has coordinated the Hands Alive program. He incorporated the RHS robotics team, Wayne State, OTEC hands on experiments and BestBuy to bring new life to this annual event. He has also served on the committee for the 8th grade party two years in a row.
At the High School level Allan has been the driving force behind the Falcon Frenzy Tailgates. He has raised funds to support these community building events for each athletic season and has taken it to the next level by adding a stage, live music, games and food.
Recently, he wrote and received a grant from L&L Foundation, for $5,000 which was used for a 3D printer at Reuther Middle School and Rochester High’s Science Olympiad team. He was the driving force behind the $10,000 contribution from AT & T for the district STEAM initiative. He serves on the committee for the district’s annual STEAM event.
Allan coordinates and plans the annual Paint the Plow program which is a program between the city of Rochester Hills and Rochester Community Schools middle and high school students. Allan has volunteered his time to a Rochester Community Schools student to help complete his Eagle Scout project. He also participated in a practicum with an Adams High School student. He is very passionate about engineering and about being involved and he goes out of his way to encourage children to think about engineering and the possibilities.
Besides volunteering at Rochester Community Schools for countless events he is also a board of directors for OLSHA (Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency) and TIA (Traffic Improvement Association of Michigan). He has had the opportunity to coach soccer for 8 years within the Rochester Soccer Club.
If a volunteer is needed for any reason...Allan Schneck is always available and puts the kids and RCS community first.
RHS PTA Founders Day Honorees
Congratulations to Parent-Marisa Nasiadka, Teacher-Nicholas Merlo and Student-Christopher Russell for being honored as the RHS 2016 PTSA Founders Day Honorees. These individuals were recognized at a the PTA Council Founders Day event on March 3, 2016 for going above and beyond in advocating for and making contributions in the best interest of students in the RHS community. The individuals were nominated as follows for being true leaders in our RHS community.
Marisa Nasiadka is a dedicated volunteer that is always willing to step up not only as a worker but also a leader at RHS. No job is too big for Marisa! She chairs many different programs, having a positive impact on a significant number of students at RHS.
Nicholas Merlo works behind the scenes to create safe training activities and nutritional programs for RHS students. He is always searching & implementing programs that improve student’s health and wellbeing. Mr. Merlo’s efforts have also increased utilization of the workout room. RHS is lucky to have such a wonderful asset.
Christopher Russell is a true supporter/mentor/leader to many students at RHS. His sense of integrity, steady leadership and commitment to both excellence and this school shows through his involvement with varsity wrestling, varsity football, Student Government VP, community service projects and as a member of the Rochester Youth Council.

PRE FESTIVAL CONCERT

The Rochester High School Wind Ensemble performed their Pre-Festival concert on Tuesday, February 23 in the Rochester Auditorium. Director of Bands, Mr. David A. Uhrig conducted the band for two of their selections of music while student teacher, Mr. Joshua Nuss directed them for one. Giving advice as to how to improve even further on the pieces was Dr. Jeff Heisler from Oakland University. The Wind Ensemble will be performing in front of a panel of judges at the MSBOA Festival held at Avondale High School on Thursday, March 10 at 7:15 pm. Rochester's Symphony Band will also perform on that date at 5:20 pm, while the Concert Band will present their music on Friday, March 11 at 4:30 pm. This event is highly regarded and a key opportunity in showcasing the outstanding band program we have here at our high school and in our district.
Also performing at last week's concert was the Reuther Middle School 7th Grade Band under the direction of Ms. Erin Holden. Both bands' performances were enjoyed by all who attended! Because of last week's snow day, the Symphony Band and Concert Band were unable to hold a pre-festival concert, but will be working hard in class and individually to perfect their pieces by next week's adjudicated performance.

Each morning, there will also be a drop off location for students, so they won’t necessarily need to bring it to class every day. There, they will fill out a slip of paper including their name, the teacher’s name, and the amount donated.

Students from the class will be collecting during Parent/Teacher Conferences on Wednesday 3/9 beginning at 3:30pm.
