Dear Rochester community,
As we wrap up yet another exciting week, it is time to focus on the week to come.  Please take a look at this week’s parent communication as it focuses on our final week of school.
A special thank you goes out to all our parents of our 2016 graduates.  Our graduation would not be successful without your support.  For commencements, our graduates showed up in professional dress and held themselves to a highest standard of conduct.  This is a testament to your commitment to their education and the excellence of our school community.  There are over 500 pictures available of our graduation ceremony below.  Also posted is the video played at graduation.  If you have any questions, or need anything, please feel free to contact me at anytime.

Enjoy the weather.

Sincerely,
Neil DeLuca

Senior All Night Party

Character was shining brightly last night at the Senior All Night Party.  The 2016 RHS Senior All Night Party (SNAP) was a huge success!  Thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped to make the night enjoyable and fun for everyone.  It was a fun culminating event for our seniors.  The SANP does not happen without our parent volunteers.  Students arrived at Dave & Buster’s around 10:30, and ended the all night party at 4am.  There were video arcade games, a mechanical bull, a hypnotist, pool, and all the food they could handle.  Did we mention they had coffee there too!  Thank you again and congratulations to the parents of this year’s senior class.

Seniors
Please remember to request a final transcript to be sent to your college/university.  Do this today through Parchment.  Select “next grading period” and it will put your transcript on hold until it’s available for delivery via Parchment beginning on 6/30/2016.  Your college/university requires this!
* If you have any questions, contact your counselor or Mrs. Garr at kgarr@rochester.k12.mi.us
*Only 93 seniors out of 381 seniors have done this so far.

Falcons of Distinction Awards Ceremony

The Falcons of Distinction department awards were held on Wednesday, June 1.  It was a great night celebrating student achievement within each department. Rochester High has a history of tradition, achievement, and excellence both in the community and in the classroom.  Wednesday’s event was another example of a tradition celebrating students’ achievement and excellence within each department.  There are a variety of awards given during the ceremony within each department.  The purpose of the awards are to recognize students that show outstanding educational growth, achievement, improvement, and commitment in a specific department and a specific class.  Congratulations to all of the student award winners.  Your dedication, time, effort, and attitude continues to inspire those around you, and make RHS one of the top high schools in the nation.

INTERESTED IN GIRLS GOLF??

Picture
Attention all parents interested in having your daughter play high school golf.  Girl's golf at the high school level takes place in the fall and begins this year on August 10th.  The season is relatively short, ending around the end of September for JV and the middle of October for Varsity.  Common misconceptions are that girls need to have a lot of experience or be at a certain level to come out for the team.  The truth is that most girls at the JV level have very little playing experience.  We have not had to cut girls from the JV team for several years and most likely can take anyone who comes out to give golf a try.

I would really like to be in touch with anyone who has a daughter that might be interested in coming out for golf.  We have some opportunities for inexpensive group lessons (2 or 3 girls) with a club professional in the community.  Golf is definitely a sport that becomes much more fun for the girls when they can play with a friend.  Please contact Coach Jeff Haney with any questions at jhaney@rochester.k12.mi.us.
