Spotlight on Instruction

Weekly we will be highlighting our exceptional teaching staff in our new section titled, Spotlight on Instruction.  This week’s highlight is of Mr. David Uhrig, Director of Bands, Mr. Marius Achim and Ms. Stefanie Shooks, Algebra.

Area residents enjoy the sounds of Rochester High School marching band as Mr. Uhrig and the Falcon Marching Band practice their halftime performance during zero hour under the stadium lights at 6:30 am.  Mr. Uhrig holds a bachelor’s degree from The University of Michigan and a master’s degree from Sam Houston State University in conducting.

Students are engaged as Mr. Marius Achim and Ms. Stefanie Shooks play a review game with student’s utilizing classroom and personal technology and the website Kahoot!  Mr. Achim and Ms. Shooks  spend the class period interactively assessing student knowledge in preparation of their unit test.  Mr. Achim holds a BA from Florida International University and a Masters degree in counseling from Oakland University.  Ms. Shooks holds a BA from Alma College and a Masters in Instructional Technology from Saginaw Valley State University.

RHS Chamber Choir

RHS Chamber Choir was selected as a finalist to earn the chance to sing the National Anthem in front of thousands of Detroit Tigers fans at the Sept. 26 game, receive 45 tickets to that game and earn your choir a $5,000 grant from Comerica Bank! Voting begins tomorrow. We encourage you and all RHS community members to vote and help your choir win $5,000! To cast your vote, visit the Comerica Cares Facebook page  VOTE HERE
before Sept. 20 and click on the Star Spangled Choir tab.  You can vote once a day and you must log in to Facebook in order to vote.

RHS Club Fair

Rochester will hold its Club Fair during all three lunches on Tuesday, September 22nd. We encourage all students to participate in some form of a school activity whether it is athletics, the fine arts, or a club. Students that participate in an extra-curricular activity have a well-rounded high school experience and create positive memories outside of the classroom. Click on Student Activities and Clubs page for a complete list or download an info sheet here. The registration fee is $30 per club and payable online.


Introducing the 2015-2016 Falcon Marching Band Drum Majors!

The Rochester High School Falcon Marching Band proudly kicked off their marching season with the introduction of the 2015-2016 Drum Majors including
Head Senior Drum Major, Lawrence Latouf and Assistant Junior Drum Majors, Audrey Bevacqua and Cameron Page. 
The drum majors put in countless hours preparing for this season and attended drum major camp at Michigan State University over the summer. The Falcon Marching Band is fortunate to be under the leadership of these highly skilled student musicians. Come see them in action at the next home game!



The Command Performance

The Command Performance is a unique opportunity to “win the band”.  What does that mean?  Tickets are purchased for $3.00 each and if your ticket is selected, you will win a personal performance by the RHS Falcon Marching Band at a location of your choosing in Rochester.  See any FMB member to purchase a ticket.  Performance date will be Sunday, October 18 at 2pm.

Auditions for the Fall Musical

Auditions for the 2015 RHS musical Thoroughly Modern Millie will take place on Wednesday, September 23rd beginning at 3:00 in the RHS auditorium.  Audition information can be found on the RATS webpage, ratstheatre.org. A tap dancing workshop will be held on Friday, September 18th beginning at 2:45 in the auditorium. Performance dates are November 19-22.


Fundraisers for Rochester Parents of Music Students and Cross Country 
Help Support the Rochester Parents of Music Students by visiting Panera Bread on September 23rd between 4:00 and 8:00 pm.

The boys and girls RHS Cross Country Team is having a fundraiser at Brueggers Bagel on Walton Blvd (across from RHS).  The fundraiser will take place Friday, September 25th and Saturday, September 26th (all day).  Please show your support by stopping in and purchasing some delicious bagels or a beverage.  If you show the attached flier during the time of yourpurchase, Brueggers will donate 15% of your purchase to our Cross Country program.  Go Falcons!!

Tickets will be on sale starting Friday September 18th for $20 and will be available for that price until Thursday, September 24th. 

Ticket prices will INCREASE to $25 starting Friday, September 25th until Friday October 2nd.

**NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR 
**MUST HAVE ID TO PURCHASE TICKET

If you did not order a class t-shirt those will be available for purchase in the school store for $10 starting Friday September 18th.

If you DID purchase a t-shirt those will be available for pick up in the school store starting on Friday September 18th.
